What the cellar keeps

A dark still life of bread, a pear and a glass on a wooden table

The cellar under the villa was dug into the rock in 1910. It keeps thirteen degrees in January and in July without any help from us.

Mountain bottles

Most of the list comes from the Valtellina, the steep valley north of the lake where Nebbiolo grows on stone terraces. The wines are lighter than their cousins in Piedmont and taste of the cold.

A few bottles are not on any list. Ask on your last night and we may open one.

Tastings are held on Thursdays and Saturdays by candlelight. The candles are for atmosphere; the cellar does have lights.
